The Junior League of Phoenix annual Rummage Sale means different things to different people. For shoppers, this is a chance to purchase school clothes, a new couch or maybe a set of dishes at a cheaper price. In fact, some shoppers return year after year, knowing that whatever they’re looking for, it will be found at the rummage for a good price. As I volunteered one year, I was able to witness a father-to-be purchasing almost everything his newborn son would need for his first year.

Volunteering at Rummage Sale

For League members like myself, the Rummage Sale is a cornerstone for our entire organization. Across 80 years, the Rummage Sale has raised more than $7 million, which was used to directly benefit Phoenix communities through various programs and initiatives.

Each year, members of the League donate thousands of items and countless hours to pull off this massive event. It’s a remarkable sight to see the event come together, knowing that the women who organize the event volunteer their time outside regular jobs and responsibilities. Their commitment to the cause is what established the Junior League’s legacy of impact in Phoenix.

As the marketing partner for the Junior League of Phoenix, Ideas Collide provides strategic support for its fundraising events, including public relations, paid and earned media, collateral materials and more. Professionally, it’s a bonus to support an organization that I’m a member of.

But the agency strives to go the extra mile when it comes to giving back. This year, I collected more than $200 worth of donated goods from colleagues. On top of that, several members of the team attended the event to get in on the action themselves. At Ideas Collide, we talk a lot about loving the team and showing customer love. However, putting those values into action is what truly makes an impact.
